Criminal Investigations
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is tasked with follow-up investigations into all active criminal cases occurring within the jurisdiction of the City of Duluth. Criminal Investigations currently has a staff of eight. Criminal Investigations is headed by Captain Mark Hunter. The rest of the Criminal Investigations staff consists of one Sergeant, four Detectives, and a Crime Scene Technician.
CID has the additional responsibilities of all crime scene processing, regulating pawn shops and maintenance of the department property and evidence room. The Criminal Investigation Division investigates all types of cases which include crimes against persons, property crimes, vice and narcotics.
Duluth Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is dedicated to thoroughly and professionally investigate all unsolved crimes occurring within it’s jurisdiction. The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for identifying and apprehending offenders, recovering lost or stolen property, locating, processing, documenting, gathering and evaluating evidence, regarding criminal activity, and assisting in the prosecution of those charged with criminal offenses.
